Saving the Jabco Building649 viewsI wanted to portray the efforts of the firefighters to save what they could. These two men were wetting down the Jabco building (an old-fashion country store) next door to the Bush House. They started watering it a 8 am when embers hit the roof and it started smoldering. The water was pumped from the old canal raceway. Thanks to their efforts, the Bush House was the only building we lost. Photo by Joanne Tosti-Vasey.

Fighting the fire557 viewsThis watery picture is taken from the alleyway between the Bush House and Jabco looking back at where the Bush House stood (on the left). Taken between 9 am and 11 am on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. The efforts of the firefighters in this area ensured that the fire didn't spread to the two buildings directly across the alleyway from the Bush House. Only the telephone pole next to Jabco caught on fire. Photo by Joanne Tosti-Vasey.

The Balcony after the fire595 viewsThe fire was contained at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. All that remained of the front of the building was the balcony and the right corner near Spring Creek. This was taken about 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Fire still smoldering. And the balcony was pulled down later that evening. Photo by Joanne Tosti-Vasey.

This panoramic view taken at 11 am the next day shows the results of what is left of the Bush House from the Spring Creek side. Picture taken by Joanne Tosti-Vasey from bridge on Water Street
