The residence at 347 East Linn is best known as the home for four prominent judges in Centre County: Judge Daniel Rhoads, its original owner, who never lived in the house, Judge Ellis L. Orvis, the homeas second owner who bought the home for his father, Judge John H. Orvis, and Judge Arthur Dale, who owned the home for the longest period of continuous ownership. After a devastating fire in 1994 made the home unlivable, the Dale family scheduled the property for demolition. However, fate stepped in and the Stewart family worked on restoring the property for nearly two years. The residence retained its exterior shell, but was completely remodeled inside to suit todayas contemporary lifestyle.
