Henry and Harriet Lowry House

The multitude of large, very detailed and prestigious historic homes in Bellefonte required a large number of very skilled building contractors to do the work. Henry Lowry was another awell known Bellefonte contractor and builder,a with a long career during which he built a number of homes and other buildings in Bellefonte and vicinity including several large fraternity houses in State College. One of his last major jobs in Bellefonte was the remodeling of the Methodist Church. During most of his life he resided in this house on East Bishop Street which he built as a young man. He also built a frame house on Logan Street for himself and under the firm name Hunter and Lowry, constructed four other homes valued at approximately $1000 each.
