Now divided into offices and apartments, this lovely mansion was constructed by a Bellefonte lawyer. Most interestingly, the stable at the rear of the house was remodeled by Blanchardas sister Mary in the early 1900s and used as a Basket Shop for the manufacturer of baskets sold in Philadelphia, Boston and New York, as well as locally. Government regulations forced Mary to close the operation in 1930. When in operation, flowers completely surrounded the little cottage and ran down the alley known as Hollyhock due to the profusion of flowers that emerged every summer. The detailing on the front of the house has been changed several times, from a much more straight lined Italianate version with quoined corners and a wooden porch, to much more detailed gingerbread bracketing. The paint colors have also changed several times over the years.
