Situated on Howard Street, at the main entrance of the Union Cemetery, some historians believe this building once served as a law office for Andrew Gregg Curtin and that it may have been moved from the Crider Exchange Block on North Allegheny Street to its current location. An alternative history states that it was in 1859, indeed the gatehouse to the cemetery and home of the cemetery’s superintendent. Whichever is true does not take away from the completely unique appearance of the property itself serving as the gate to the Howard Street entrance to the cemetery. The front gables with their downward-pointing decorations are in of the Folk Victorian style.
