Dr. Hugh Rogers House

The massive home located at 403 East Linn Street stands on land once owned by Revolutionary War General Philip Benner, the pioneer ironmaster in the Bellefonte area. The land was later bequeathed to Ruth Benner and her husband Major James Armor who sold the property to J. Kyle McFarlane, to begin construction on the house. As part of a large intertwined family, Mr. McFarlane was the nephew of Colonel McFarlane who operated a hardware store in what is now the Crider Ex-change. His partner, Philip Benner Wilson was General Benneras grandson and the brother-in-law of John Blair Linn, historian of Centre and Clinton counties.
