Originally thought to have been built in the Georgian style, traced back to the Harris family of early Bellefonte, the house also has an affiliation with Dr. Stuart, a local dentist who practiced in the late 1800s. The residence served as apartment homes for decades before the owners decided to reconvert the property back to a single family home with 16 rooms. If the house was actually Georgian architecture to begin with, the Second Empire mansard roof would have been added in the 1860s. During restoration, the Clemsonas restored the homeas original fixtures, salvaged and restored the floors and reopened and restored the many fireplaces.
