Albert C. Mingle House

Born in 1854 in nearby Aaronsburg, Albert C. Mingle was a well-known retail boot and shoe dealer in Bellefonte, continuing in business for more than 50 years. After he married Maggie Hoffer of Centre Hall he was elected Mayor of Bellefonte, served on the Bellefonte School Board and was a continuing member of the Bellefonte Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, serving as Worshipful Master in 1893. In addition to these important community activities, Mingle served as Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the Bellefonte Trust Company, and president of the Chemical Lime Company. His home at 132 East High Street is a good example of the trends in architecture that were occurring in Bellefonte in the late 1880s and early 1990s.
