A Bellefonte Institution for More than 100 Years

When you reach the century mark in a business, you know youare doing something right. Bonfattoas reached that amazing milestone, and passed right by, still going strong today at 102 year old, still serving amazing food and drinks to the people of Bellefonte.

Bonfattoas, which began life as a downtown Bellefonte grocery store and home delivery business, has returned to its roots in recent years, as David Letterman, grandson of the founders of the business, and his wife Sherry renovated a beautiful historical building and created the newest incarnation of Bonfattoas: as an Italian market and corner cafe.

The market portion of Bonfattoas has a fantastic selection of holiday gifts. You can pick up some handmade Belgium Chocolate Bombs, a perfect stocking stuffer for anyone with a sweet tooth, or a gift basket for those who are Italian cooking fans. They even sells great-looking merch: hats, t-shirts, and travel mugs thatall look great on the Bonfattoas lover in your life.

Or if youare in the neighborhood and looking to get out of the cold, drop in for an exquisite espresso, made the old-fashioned way with the atraditional lever-pull machine,a which gives you an authentic and delicious cup of coffee you canat get in most places. Bonfattoas also will serve you up a specialty latte to take the chill away, including an eggnog latte and an eggnog freddo (iced latte) made with Vale Wood Farms local eggnog.

Bonfattoas, of course, still has the delicious subs theyave been known for since John Bonfatto invented them in 1958. Plus, their deli is the perfect place to find unique Italian items, like Sopresatta, Taleggio, Mortadella, and Porchetta. One bite of them and youall be transported away from snowy Centre county and onto the shores of the Mediterranean.

Bonfattoas does everything with an eye on quality, from making many of their ingredients in-house to bringing in only the finest products to sell in their deli. Itas no wonder the people of Bellefonte have been supporting them for more than a century!
