St. John's Episcopal Church is a vibrant, growing parish located in historic Bellefonte. Our parish was established in 1837; our current church was built more than a century ago and has many beautiful features, including the rood screen featured in this picture. On November 14, 1999, we dedicated a new facility, All Saints Chapel and Columbarium. It is a beautiful addition to this historic church.
Though rich in history -- do you want to see how we looked before 1900? -- we are responsive to the needs and problems of today's world. As a parish of approximately 100 households, we have recently committed ourselves to the following mission.
Mission
In the name of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the people of St. John's Episcopal Church:
- Celebrate God's presence through sacramental worship
- Share God's Word
- Educate and strengthen God's people for ministry
- Demonstrate God's love through the caring outreach of all members
To carry out this mission, we strive:
- To be an inclusive and active community of prayer gathered around the Lord's Table and growing in the life of Jesus Christ
- To be a church that testifies in Word and Example to the Good News of God in Christ
- To be a community that empowers its members to seek and serve Christ in all persons
- To be a voice and agent for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every person
